Details
Carving a spoon from a freshly cut branch is one of the oldest crafts there is, and it needs almost no equipment. In this one-day course in an old orchard in Glindow, just outside Werder (Havel), Ole teaches safe axe work to rough out a blank, then the classic knife grips (thumb push, pull stroke, chest lever) to shape the bowl and handle with a straight knife and a hook knife. By the afternoon you'll have a finished cooking spoon, oiled and ready to use, and the know-how to find and carve your own wood afterwards. Tools, wood and a simple lunch are provided; the course runs outdoors under a gazebo whatever the weather.
