What is SkillSquid?
A marketplace for independent teachers and the people who want to learn from them. You find courses, private lessons and workshops near you — pottery, sports, tutoring, music, languages and more — and book and pay in one place.
Do I have to commit to a whole course?
A course is booked as a whole — that’s what makes a group work. If you just want to try something, pick a workshop or a private lesson. Every course shows its cancellation terms before you book.
When am I charged?
When the teacher accepts your request — not before. We hold the money and only pay the teacher once your first session has taken place.
What if the teacher doesn’t show up?
Report the missed session. The money stays with us until the first session has really happened, so you don’t pay for a class that never took place.
Are classes online?
SkillSquid is built for learning in person, near you. A few private lessons also happen at your home or online — the listing always says where.
Who can teach on SkillSquid?
Anyone with a skill to share who gets verified. You show your ID and tell us what you teach, and our team verifies you once. After that, every class you list goes live right away, without another review — the team only steps in if a class breaks the rules.
Can I offer private lessons instead of a course?
Yes. When you list a class you choose: a course that meets several times, a one-off workshop, or private lessons that students request at times you offer.
What does it cost to teach?
Listing a class is free. We keep 15% of each booking — only when you get paid.
What is ink?
SkillSquid’s reward points. You get ink for going to classes, teaching and helping others in the Reef. It grows your level and unlocks badges — it’s just for fun, not money.
