Terms of use
Version 2026-09-29
Draft for the prototype. These terms describe how SkillSquid works today, with the numbers taken from the app itself. Company details, consumer-law wording and the cancellation rules must be checked by a lawyer before launch. English only for now — the German version comes with the legal review.
Who we are and what SkillSquid is
SkillSquid is run by SkillSquid (company name TBD), Street, ZIP City, Germany (TBD) (“we”). SkillSquid is a marketplace: independent instructors list courses, events and private lessons, and learners book them. The class itself is a contract between the learner and the instructor. We provide the platform, take the payment and pass it on.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- Your details must be true, and your account is yours alone. Keep your login safe.
- You can delete your account any time in Settings → Privacy & data.
Booking a class
- A course is booked as a whole — you join all its dates, not single sessions. Anevent is one date. A private lesson is a time you request and the instructor confirms.
- Some bookings are confirmed right away, others are a request the instructor accepts, declines or answers with other terms (a counter-offer). The booking is only binding once it is confirmed.
- You pay the full price when the booking is confirmed. The exact address is shown once you are confirmed.
- We hold your payment until 2 days after your first session. If that session didn’t take place, report it in your classroom within that time — the payment stays on hold until our team has looked into it, and you get your money back if the class didn’t happen.
- If the instructor cancels an event or a private lesson, you get a full refund. If a single date of a course is cancelled, you keep your place in the course.
- Rules for cancelling a booking yourself are not final yet and will be added here before launch.
Teaching on SkillSquid
- Listing a class is free. For every paid booking we keep a platform fee of 15 % (a placeholder until the final rate is set) and pay the rest to your bank account.
- Payouts are sent 2 days after a booking’s first session, unless a learner reports that it didn’t take place. If you cancel an event or a private lesson, the affected learners are refunded in full and nothing is paid out for those bookings.
- You are responsible for your classes: that you are qualified for what you teach, that your listing is accurate, that certificates you declare are real, and that the place is safe. You declare your income yourself.
- To teach, you have to be verified by our team first: you tell us what you teach and prove who you are with an ID document. Once you’re verified, the classes you list go live right away.
- We can take a listing offline if it breaks these terms, and revoke your verification — then you can’t list new classes.
How we treat each other
- No harassment, hate, spam, sexual content or anything that puts people — especially minors — at risk.
- Pay and get paid through SkillSquid. Asking to pay outside the platform is not allowed; it also takes away the protection above.
- Reviews are about a class you actually went to and must be honest. Instructors can answer but not edit or hide them.
- You can block anyone and report people, messages, classes, posts and reviews. We look at every report and may warn, suspend or remove accounts and content that break these rules.
Your content
What you post (listings, photos, posts, reviews, messages) stays yours. You allow us to show it on SkillSquid for as long as it is online. Only post what you have the rights to.
Ink, levels and badges
Ink, levels and badges are just for fun. They have no money value and can’t be exchanged or transferred.
Liability
We are responsible for running the platform with care. The class itself is the instructor’s responsibility.
Changes and contact
If we change these terms, we show you the new version and ask you to accept it before you continue. How we handle your data is explained in the privacy notice. Questions: privacy@skillsquid.example or the contact form.
