How did a sword actually feel in the hand, and why did its shape change so much between the 9th and the 17th century? In this evening talk-and-handling session Konrad brings a dozen museum-grade reproductions — a Viking-age sword, an arming sword, a longsword, a messer, a sidesword and a rapier — and explains what each was made for, how it was forged, and how armour and fighting styles drove the design. You'll hold every one of them, learn to read balance and point of percussion, and see a short demonstration of how each was used. Also covers common myths (no, they weren't heavy) and how to tell a good reproduction from a wall-hanger if you're thinking of buying one. Ideal for history fans, writers, re-enactors and the simply curious.
