Thinking about keeping bees on a balcony, roof or allotment? This course takes you through a full beekeeping year on the association's apiary in Pankow, with one practical session every second Saturday. You'll open hives from the first session (suits and gloves provided), learn to find the queen, read brood frames, spot disease, prevent swarming and make splits. In summer you help with the honey harvest and extraction; in autumn we treat for varroa and prepare colonies for winter. Felix also covers the legal side — registration with the veterinary office, insurance, and where you're actually allowed to keep bees in Berlin. At the end you can take over one of the association's young colonies if you want to start on your own.
